Hallmark Urged to Pull 'Racist' Card by NAACP

Comments
A Hallmark graduation card that was meant to inspire struck a nerve with the Los Angeles branch of the NAACP. The card's micro speaker features two characters named Hoops and Yo-yo talking about the solar system and "black holes." The audio sounded more like "black whores" to the NAACP, reports Black Voices. The words of the card read "Hey world, we are officially putting you on notice." Hoops and Yoyo then add: "And you black holes, you are so ominous. Watch your back." Leon Jenkins of the NAACP says the card is "demeaning" because "it made reference to African-American women as whores, and says 'watch your back" at the end. Hallmark has responded by asking all carriers to stop selling the card, which has been out for three years.
