Critically acclaimed author Zadie Smith is not only blessed with the ability to pen great prose, the English and Jamaican writer also possesses a high fashion IQ. Nevertheless, Smith would probably laugh off any suggestion of her being in vogue. This intellectual wasn't too fond of her budding fashion icon status in the U.K. back in '07 and '08. But no matter how much Smith tries to deflect attention from her stellar style, it's hard to not to take notice. Zadie Smith is where style and substance meet. Smith's wardrobe appeals to romantics, bohemians and lady-like fashion enthusiasts. This Brit forgoes flashy and trendy fashions for eclectic designer and vintage frocks and separates. Her look may not scream "look at me" but at closer inspection Smith's well-edited closet is full of timeless staples that make looking great so easy. Smith owns an enviable collection of dresses from an ethereal silk evening gown to a minimalist shift, from designers like Lanvin, Celine, and Donna Karan. Smith has been spotted pairing her frocks with Louboutin platform pumps and clutches. Though her queenly head wraps have become her trademark, Smith has on occasion stepped out sans wrap. She likes to adorn herself with statement necklaces, bangles and almost always with an elegant brooch fastened on her chest. Smith can go from sophisticated glamour to bohemian chic with the ease of a style veteran. Designer Prabal Gurung, the latest 'It' designer whose fine graphic dresses have been worn by Thandie Newton, Zoe Saldana, Oprah and Michelle Obama, drew inspiration for his '09 debut collection from Smith. Gurung described his collection as, "clothes for a thinking-man's sex symbol. You know like Zadie Smith." Get inspired by Zadie Smith's cheeky closet...
