Black Babies Not Getting Enough Vitamin D

A recent study conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that babies across America are not getting enough Vitamin D. Absorbed through the skin from sunlight, Vitamin D is necessary to support healthy bones, strong immune systems and a variety of other bodily functions in children and adults. According to, Black babies have an increased risk of Vitamin D deficiency, as people with darker pigmentation do not produce as much Vitamin D as lighter-skinned people do when exposed to sunlight.
