Oscar Countdown: Party Planning Ideas
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards are quickly approaching and with so many nominees of color on the ballots, we'll surely be glued to the tube come March 7. ESSENCE.com will be on-hand to bring you up-to-the-minute news about the winners (and the fashions, but of course!) and we also want to make sure that you're squared away for your Oscar-viewing celebration.
Last week, the Academy invited us over to the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center to preview the decor and menu (courtesy of master chef, Wolfgang Puck) for the Governors Ball, the official Oscar after-party. While 1,500 of Hollywood's elite will be noshing on an array of hors d'oeuvres (think tempura shrimp and lobster, smoked salmon pizza with caviar and wasabi-pea crusted crab cakes) and a main course of smoked salmon over potato galette and chicken pot pie with veggies and black truffle, you, too, can enjoy a fabulous spread.
Cheryl Cecchetto, producer of the Governors Ball, has offered up 10 tips to make your party a bonafide hit. First on her list is to make sure that you and your guests see as many Oscar-nominated movies as possible, which will only adds to the fun. You've got three weeks, so get to stepping to your local cinema!
