Gay Marriage: See How the Nation’s Capital Voted

 

Much to the protest of some Black preachers in Washington, DC, the local City Council voted to acknowledge same-sex unions from other states, according to the Associated Press. Only one council member, former Mayor Marion Barry, voted against the measure. Congress still has the final word over laws in the city, as the gay marriage debate continues to be a hot button in politics. –CJ
