Big Wins at Boston Marathon

Professional distance runner Deriba Merga won first place at the 113th Annual Boston Marathon on April 20, according to The Boston Herald. The Ethiopian runner finished the race in 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 42 seconds, second behind the marathon record, winning a cash prize of 150,000 dollars. For the women, Salina Kosgei of Kenya finished with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 16 seconds. She's the first Kenyan woman to win since Rita Jeptoo in 2006.—LB
