U.S. Senator and former presidential hopeful John Kerry is in Darfur on a mission to bring peace talks to the war-torn country, according to the Associated Press. Kerry was encouraged by the fact that those government officials he spoke to are ready to discuss peace but now it’s up to convincing rebel forces to do the same. Senator Kerry is there on behalf of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee after being instrumental in issuing an arrest warrant for President Omar al-Beshir for alleged war crimes in Darfur.—WLW
