Apparently there’s a lot to know about Bo. The First Family’s new pup, a Portuguese dog, is a member of the most genetically studied breed in the world, according to Chicago Tribune. “Dogs have many of the same diseases that humans have. There is great hope theses [findings] will translate to humans,” said Kevin Chase, senior researcher at the The Georgia Project at the University of Utah, which studies Portuguese water dog genetics (Georgie was a water dog belonging to the project’s founder.) Additionally, the breed’s coat is hypoallergenic, making Bo the perfect choice for the Obamas, as 10-year-old Malia suffers from allergies.—ZH
