Not everyone is singing the praises of Michelle Obama’s recent fashion choices. Within major fashion houses, there is a growing desire for Mrs. Obama to broaden her choices by including their designs, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The First Lady’s now famous J. Crew beaded cardigan reportedly sold out by midmorning Wednesday. Now, many American household name designers like Donna Karan and Tommy Hilfiger are expressing their desire to dress the President’s wife.
It is widely accepted that most, if not all, of Mrs. Obama’s wardrobe goes through Ikram Goldman of Chicago’s chic Ikram Boutique. However, Seventh Avenue darling Oscar de la Renta shared that Lady O would benefit from expanding her present range of fashion advisers, particularly on matters of protocol (like her recent meeting of the Queen of England) and added one doesn’t go to Buckingham Palace in a sweater. —BB
