Black Baby Boys: Is Food Their Problem?

Comments

As if they don't have enough stacked against them, now little Black boys have to worry about the food they eat. Black male children are at an especially higher risk for developing food allergies, says a new study presented this week at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. The study revealed that Black boys are about four times as likely to be food allergic as the rest of the population, according to the New York Daily News. The study involved 8,203 participants, who ranged in age from 1 to 85 and had a food sensitivity to eggs, milk, peanut and shrimp. Researchers say what causes food allergies in general isn't clear and they will take the necessary steps to explore why younger Black males are so high-risk for them. —BB
