Closet Racists: Obama Supporters in Disguise?

Don’t let that Obama bumper sticker fool you. In three experiments conducted before the November presidential election, a group of Stanford University psychologists found that expressing support for Obama makes some people feel justified in favoring Whites over Blacks, according to the Stanford News Service. Those people are trying to build what the psychologists call "moral credentials"—the license they feel is needed to express their true feelings about race. One researcher shared that this new phenomenon is the psychological equivalent of people saying in casual conversation something like "many of my best friends are Black." BB
