Residents of New Orleans are starting to worry all over again. The National Guard pulled the last troops from the city last weekend, three years after Hurricane Katrina, according to MSNBC.com. Many residents still feel that there city is under siege and there is a great potential for an increase in crime once the National Guard leaves. The Police Superintendent however strongly believes that the city’s police department is up for the job of protecting its residents, even in the Ninth Ward where most homes were left uninhabitable. The National Guard arrived four days after the Hurricane hit in August 2005. At one time, 15,000 troops were deployed in New Orleans.-WLW
