Portland, Maine: Expecting First Black Chief of Police

Comments

It seems like the Obama effect is making itself present in every facet of
the country. Members of the Portland City Council are preparing to vote in a
new chief of police. Capt. James Craig would become the first African-American to acquire that position in Maine's largest city, according to
BostonGlobe.com. Craig has 28 years on the force through the Los Angeles
Police Department and if confirmed would begin as chief in May.—WLW
