Sunday was a proud moment for students of L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The school’s top six students were invited to visit the White House kitchen as the top chefs there prepared for the first official dinner since the Obama’s moved in, according to The New York Times. Along with a few select reporters, Mrs. Obama and Desiree Rogers hosted the students as chefs prepped for the Governors Ball. The invitation was part of Mrs. Obama’s outreach to the local community. In an ongoing effort to put her own stamp on entertaining in the White House, the First Lady has also been a strong proponent of her staff using locally grown food whenever possible as well. — BB
