President-elect Barack Obama will become the 44th President of the United States once he’s inaugurated next Tuesday. Despite the demands that the presidency will bring, one thing is for sure–he’ll continue to make time for his family including reading with Malia and attending Sasha’s dance recitals. So it’s no wonder when Parade Magazine asked Obama to write a letter to his daughters that he would thoughtfully take the task to heart.
In an endearing letter addressed specifically to Sasha and Malia, Obama explains to his daughters why he has taken on the ominous task of leading the most powerful country in the world, but all the while reminding them of his love and devotion as their father. He goes on to explain to his girls about the journey they have taken as a family and the one that is about to begin, thanking them for their consistent poise, grace and humor.
He goes on to talk about the importance and benefits of a good education, saying, “I want all our children to go to schools worthy of their potential-schools that challenge them, inspire them, and instill in them a sense of wonder about the world around them.”
