McLeoud Bethune: Set the Path for Obama?

Comments

President-elect Obama looks to former President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal as inspiration for his upcoming term - and some would say he should thank FDR's adviser Mary McLeoud Bethune for helping him get into office, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Bethune was a trusted ally and friend of Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor. She also organized and led the Black Cabinet, a group of Black intellectuals who were influential in getting more Blacks registered to vote and setting the foundation for integration and inclusion.
