Black Churches: Save Sickle Cell Children With Blood Drives

Black churches are spreading the message to congregation members about the importance of blood donations for kids with sickle cell disease. Whatever they are doing must be working because churches are witnessing an increase from first-time donors through their blood drives, according to Reuters.com. In a new study by the Transfusion journal, researchers found that blood drives at 13 Black churches had 699 people donate - with 60 percent of them being first-time donors.
