Black Workers Hit Hard in Auto Crisis

It always seems African-Americans get hit the hardest when there is a crisis and there is no exception with the recent downturn in the economy. Take the automobile crisis: About 20,000 African-American auto workers have lost jobs last month, a 13.9 percent decline in employment, since the recession began last December, according to the New York Times. "That compares with a 4.4 percent decline for all workers in manufacturing," the newspaper says.
