The African American Film Critics Association named blockbuster thriller “Dark Knight” as the best picture of 2008, according to the Los Angeles Times. The late actor Heath Ledger was also commended by the association for his role as the Joker in the film. Ledger’s critically acclaimed performance won in the best supporting actor category. The association, which is made up of Black media professionals from across the nation, serves to highlight films that have a worldly appeal to the Black community.
