It comes as no surprise that Time magazine’s Person of the Year is President-elect Barack Obama. According to the magazine, the man who will be the nation’s forty-fourth president was chosen “for having the confidence to sketch an ambitious future in a gloomy hour, and for showing the competence that makes Americans hopeful he might pull it off.”
As the first Black president, Obama has inspired a whole new generation of young people who realize they too can aspire to great heights. The issue features 26 exclusive photos of Obama.
The editors at Time emphasize that being chosen is no honor rather they say it is the person “who affected the news and our lives for good or for ill and embodied what was important about the year for better or for worse.”
