Food Stamps: One in 10 Americans Need Help

One in ten Americans are in need of help

After hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma hit in 2005, the number of Americans utilizing food stamps, the country's main antihunger program, rose. As of September this year, the numbers have increased by 17 percent from last year with more than 31.5 million Americans using the program, according to Reuters. Antihunger groups blame the loss of jobs, home foreclosures and our tough economy on the recent rise.
