Senator Barack Obama defeated Senator John McCain in the presidential race in New Hampshire’s Dixville Notch and Hart’s Location, two small towns where the tradition of tallying the votes first continues, reports the Associated Press.
Obama won by a count of 15 to 6 in Dixville Notch and 17 to 10 in Hart’s Location. Two residents voted for write-in Ron Paul in Hart’s Location. The two towns have 115 residents between them and have relished their first-vote status since 1948. Not only does everyone eligible to vote participate, but they get an individual booth beginning at midnight when the polls open, according to AP.
