Michelle Obama shops like us. The potential first lady enjoys wearing affordable threads and actually hunts for deals online. She told Jay Leno on Monday she and her husband buy all their own clothes.
"Our policy has always been whatever we buy for us, we buy, because, you know, that's just been the way we've run things," she said.
Michelle showed off her inexpensive and chic style on the "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," wearing a bold yellow J. Crew sweater and skirt.
But she says she's not judging Alaska Governor Sarah Palin in regards to the $150,000 wardrobe controversy.
"I try to be as empathetic-I mean, especially a VP pick. It's like being shot out of a cannon, and all of a sudden you're at the center of attention, and you want to look good."
